Global Initiatives for Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries
Global agriculture, livestock, and fisheries are currently facing unprecedented challenges, which are significantly impacting food security and sustainability. With the world population expected to reach over 9 billion by 2050, the demand for food, livestock, and fish is expected to increase significantly. This sharp increase requires increased agricultural productivity and efficient resource management. However, the reality is quite different with the crisis facing these sectors. Fundamentally, this crisis results from several interrelated factors, such as: climate change, another major obstacle to effective agricultural development; extreme weather events, changing rainfall patterns, and rising temperatures; disruption of supply chains; environmental degradation due to greenhouse gas emissions and pollution; overfishing and overexploitation; the risk of zoonotic diseases linked to factory farming; food waste; high water consumption and greenhouse gas emissions linked to factory farming; and socio-economic factors such as rising input costs, labor shortages, and food insecurity. These issues threaten food security and require a radical transition to sustainable practices.
The Kingdom of the World has developed various notable agricultural, livestock and fisheries development programs aimed at supporting global agricultural, livestock and fisheries production through policies, financial assistance and market information, including the management of fishing quotas, ensuring sustainable fishing practices and supporting aquaculture. Protecting critical marine habitats provides refuge for fish stocks, supporting biodiversity and ecosystem resilience. Assisting governments create “no-take” zones where fishing is prohibited can lead to significant increases in the size, density, and biomass of fish within their borders. Supporting social dialogue on issues related to food, beverages, agriculture, fisheries and tobacco and share platforms to disseminate best practices at all stages of the food chain. Promoting food safety where food vendors must be trained in proper food handling in compliance with health guidelines. Ensuring a fair standard of living for the agricultural community, in particular by increasing individual income. Implementing a common agricultural, livestock farming, and fisheries policy that encourage job creation, employment, entrepreneurship, economic growth, and social progress across countries, taking into account the specific nature of agricultural activity, which results from the social structure of agriculture and the structural and natural disparities between different agricultural regions. Addressing the root causes of environmental degradation, such as unsustainable extraction practices and pollution, to mitigate potential conflicts. Promoting sustainable practices in agriculture, livestock farming, and fisheries, and adopt methods that ensure the long-term environmental, social, and economic viability of food production and fisheries activities. This involves minimizing negative impacts on ecosystems, promoting biodiversity, and ensuring fair living conditions for producers and consumers. Addressing transboundary issues such as ocean acidification, plastic pollution and illegal fishing with a multifaceted approach involving international cooperation, policy changes and individual actions. Facilitating international cooperation among nations to foster convergence and mutual understanding on food, agriculture, livestock farming, and fisheries issues. Managing field projects, mobilize and manage financial resources from various sources to support field projects aimed at achieving food security and rural development objectives. Sharing knowledge, collect, analyze, and disseminate data to support development efforts. Providing technical assistance and advice to member countries in the areas of agriculture, livestock, fisheries, forestry, and nutrition. Providing assistance in seeking and securing financing for projects, including negotiating terms with investors and managing the investment process.

Protecting animals in disasters and including animals in disaster-relief programs. Managing animal populations and disease control in the most humane manner available and acceptable by society. Promoting preventative healthcare and the practice of good veterinary standards including good pain management. Advocating both within the veterinary clinic and the community for the welfare of animals. Providing assistance in sourcing, purchasing, and managing the equipment needed to operate them. This includes everything from tractors and combines to seeds, fertilizers, transportation services and more. Connecting Agriculture, livestock, and fisheries industry businesses with international buyers, suppliers, and partners, facilitating trade and collaboration. Providing assistance with tools, strategies and support to mitigate the impact of unpredictable price changes, ensuring stable profitability and supply chain efficiency. Providing assistance to prevent, detect, and manage disease outbreaks in their crops, livestock, or other agricultural products. This may involve the provision of tools, expertise, or services related to biosecurity, disease diagnosis, treatment, and outbreak response planning. Providing expertise and support to navigate the complex world of international trade rules and regulations, facilitating smoother and more cost-effective international transactions. This may include helping businesses comply with trade agreements, identifying the best trade routes, and mitigating potential trade risks. Providing services or solutions to help farmers and other stakeholders in the agricultural, livestock and fisheries sectors reduce their environmental impact, adapt to climate change and potentially even contribute to mitigating it.
